My Vision
A new approach to education
The institution of education does not currently meet the needs of all learners, nor did it meet my needs as a student. I resolved this by developing my own approach to learning: at age 16, I tailor-made an educational pathway that was best suited to my strengths, skills and personality.

Growing up, I saw the flaws within the education system and I wanted to change it.
As an adult, I realized that the only way to change it was from the inside out.
I believe that students will flourish when presented with unique and varied options that allow for the creation of unique learning journeys. I strive to support students in findings these paths, teaching educators and administrators how to co-construct them, and working to create policies and procedures that enable their development within our system and across our district.

My Skill Set
What I do best
Create Relationships
I consistently form and maintain positive relationships with all people by valuing their contributions, using clear communication, acting with integrity and demonstrating accountability for my responsibilities.
Resolve Conflicts
I am a collaborative, active listener who approaches all situations with an asset-based perspective. I work with staff, parents and community members to find equitable solutions that keep students at the forefront. I approach difficult conversations with confidence.
Develop People
With an asset-based lens, I identify strengths in all people and encourage them to use their skill set for school and/or system improvement. I use a mentor-coaching stance that empowers others to be innovative leaders who work to modernize education.

About Me.
I love a challenge and find many ways in my professional and personal life to push my limits. As an educator, I am constantly looking to learn from the newest educational leaders and researchers; I take multiple courses each year and use a reflective practice to apply new knowledge to current and future goals. As an athlete, I enjoy long-distance running courses that are both on and off-road, taking part in annual marathons and trail races. As an outdoorswoman, I fish, hunt, paddle, hike, cross-country ski and camp throughout Northern Ontario's 4 seasons. You will most often find me in the bush with my two children, exploring new places and living the next great adventure.
